No real excuse for the differences in York and Gettysburg. State to state is another issue. On Tuesday, I paid 3.23 in NJ. The difference of 17 cents in state tax was the reason.

Cheaper in Jersey then here and they pump it for you in the Garden State One station here in town that I have mentioned before is the one at High and West Streets. Current price is 3.39 AND they insist on pumping it for you! ( Ah, can smell the sea breezes now). Only drawback is that they only accept cash.

Paid $3.159 last night at sams (in western PA). Came home and the station at the bottom of the hill is still $3.459.
Not sure what's going on there, but it makes the decision to stop and fill the tank pretty easy.

Monday afternoon all Gettysburg gas stations went up to $3.45 from $3.35 the day before. Hanover is currently a mix at $3.19 and $3.29. How long after the 150th for the Gettysburg address do we have to wait for it to come back down?
Oh wait, I forgot, there is a parade and dance this weekend, so sometime next week?

Sad, isn't it?
In the paper today, it said that the Gasoline Tax will probably go up to help pay for roads and bridges. Seems like every time they increase it, people use less gas, then there's not enough tax to pay for the roads, so... increase the tax, less gas, bad roads... increase the tax, less gas, bad roads... increase the tax, less gas, bad roads...

The tax hike will be over 5 years. At the end of those 5 years PA will have the highest gas taxes in the nation provided no other states hike their gas tax within the same time frame. Also, vehicle registration and drivers license fees will go up. I heard there was a proposal to register all SUV's as trucks since most of them are based on truck frames anyway but I haven't found anything online about it.

I have only lived here for seven years, and the annual car registration fee has remained the same at $36.00 per car. It would not be unreasonable to bump those fees up and generate more revenue to fix the roads and bridges in the state. Increasing taxes on fuel would cost everyone more, but we need to repair the infrastructure.

The last increase was done for those same reasons, however PA still retained it's reputation for the shittiest roads around. Obviously, money is getting siphoned off somewhere else.

Increasing taxes on fuel would cost everyone more, but we need to repair the infrastructure. I think the most recent transportation bill is going to increase fees. One of the things that it looked like the original drafts were going to do was authorize counties to levy a $5 per car fee on top of the state registration. How much do you think it will cost the counties to collect and enforce collection of that? Personally, I'd rather see a tax than a fee. A fee is something the poor can't avoid, but a use-based tax can be avoided by moderating usage.

Starting this month, Pa gas tax will increase .09 cents and .28 cents all together in the next three years due to the new transportation law.

$3.31 on tuesday at Sam's Club - 200 miles away.
This has been an extended period of time where gas in central PA costs a little more than it does in western PA. in 15 years, I don't ever remember that happening before. Any time I was ever in town, I could always get gas 15 cents cheaper than here when I went through chambersburg.

If the cops would do their job and start running every cars plate no mater who they are and ticket people for driving illegaly/without ins/reg/inspection/the list goes on the state would have the best roads in the country . How many times have you gotten behind someone and their registration has long been expired , well that's money in the bank and lets start profiling we all know who drives illegal the most and by all means impound the cars it will be more money.
