Oh SHIT! What has he done now!?The Host of our BoroVENT Forum, ProBoards, has updated their program. I have been testing it out on a Beta site, and I love it. It really doesn't mean much to all of you, as far as the general Forum. Some colors may change, some headings may move around, and I'll be tweaking it (fucking with it) for a few days or so as we adjust. It will be a nicer environment for all. Some of these Modifications mentioned below are things available to me as Administrator, and you don't need to be bothered by any of it, but I list it for your reading pleasure. This is as short list of modifications available - it doesn't necessarily mean that I will be incorporating ALL of the Options available, but we can work on that: - Host all your forum's images directly on ProBoards! No more relying on third party image hosts!
- The new Forum Dashboard helps you keep track of what's happening on all your ProBoards forum accounts all in one location.
- Create custom web pages and Forum Portals directly on your forum using our new Custom Pages feature.
- A new Member Groups system that allows you to categorize your members into multiple groups allowing you even easier member management.
- New Live Search functionality that brings you search results as you type; Never wait for your answers again.
- A Shoutbox integrated directly into your forum!
- Join multiple forums and transition between them seamlessly using a single account with our ProBoards Global Login.
- Notifications to help you stay on top of the latest updates to threads you've participated in and more.
- Send a personal message to multiple people in the same conversation, or even entire groups!
- Create a unique, custom avatar inside of your forum with the new Avatar Maker.
- Per-user activity feeds with the ability to follow other members.
- Better moderator tools that make moderating your forum a breeze.
- The ability to "Like" posts!
- A new Visual Editor for creating posts. See exactly what your post will look like while you make it!
- Upgraded attachments system that allows you to easily attach even more files to your forum posts!
- Lightning fast forum navigation on every page with our new drop-down navigation tree and improved hotkey support.
- At the top of each page you can see if any of the topics you've participated in have been recently updated.
- Tagging to bring a member's attention to a post.
- ... and so much more.
Probably making the changes this weekend or maybe even Later TODAY or Friday.

At first I thought, "Oh shit" until I realized I had to log in again and found that it looked a little more like the old format. It will take a little getting used to but I think I will like it after awhile. Best thing of all so far? Now it has PUKE button!

Well, here it is! When you type, you can now see how everything will look - if you click on "Visual" below. Nifty, huh? Lots of new stuff, (including "Vomit", as Lifesaver found. )

Nice but now you know what I look like! My colors are all messed up and my screen is skinny. Is there anything I can do to fix them? I did find the avatar maker though Also noticed I had to sign in again (and had to remember which email i used to sign in originally). I hate to change things I'm comfortable with but this is pretty easy stuff.

Egg Hunt, I can actually see that most Members are using the "Higher Contrast" Theme for their Profile Settings. That is the DEFAULT Theme for new users, and they can modify that later in their Profile. A lot also use the "Borovent Standard".
Although I can now see how many people use a certain Theme, I don't know who uses which style - so I can't speak for your particular theme. I fixed the contrast on the Higher Contrast, because that's the one I use too. I may play with one of the others, like the Borovent Standard, later, but I won't be tweaking the others. But... I'm pretty sure that you can tweak your own Colors!?
DO NOT FORGET... When you Sign In, your Member Name MUST be in all Lower Case letters (like "egghunt'), and then you can Modify what it will show onscreen ("Egg Hunt"). But your "Official Name" is the lower case version.

;-|Crap! I really hate change!!! Guess I gotta give it some time. Why or why do we have to fix stuff that ain't broken?? Yeah, but look how BIG your avatar is now! BTW, in your "Profile" you can set it so the "Visual" is your default Posting screen. (you'll see what I mean) AND... for those of you who write a lot of shit (and I know who I mean), there is a Profile setting that "periodically saves to draft". Haven't really figured that out yet. As you find new features, please be sure to share them - besides the "Puke" Smiley. (evidently the highlight of someone's experience) Personally, I think the Smileys are too small, but that's life. I can add some to the list if someone knows a good source.

Venter, at first everything was peachy keen. Then, it seems I lost everything, the visual, the buttons at the top, the "like" button, and the smilies. Checked support and there seems to be a problem with some people using Mozilla, version v5(I think). I logged in under Google and everything seems to be back. If others seem to be having a problem try a different search engine.

Ummm, Mozilla Firefox is up to Version 20 right now www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/I'm using it, and so far no real issues. BTW, Another nice feature: If you start writing a "Quick Reply", and then decide you just need to screw it up with Smileys, you can now just click on the "Reply" button. Before this, you had to copy what you'd written, and then paste it into the Full Reply section. BUT, I think it may only work if you have "Save Drafts" marked in your Profile. Another thing this does is if you type something, and then leave the page (because you might actually have work to do), the Draft Feature reminds you that you have begun a Reply, and asks if you want to post it!

Sorry, sent post before I was done! Anyhow, I have no idea what version of Mozilla I am using. I had trouble a few weeks ago doing something on my laptop that I could do on my desktop because the program I was using didn't support the newer version of Java. But I have figured out how to do my avatar.

Sorry, but I don't like the BIG avatars. It makes me have to scroll l-r to read the entries. Haven't tried at home yet but having to scroll l-r AND up/down drives me nuts.

Sorry, but I don't like the BIG avatars. It makes me have to scroll l-r to read the entries. Haven't tried at home yet but having to scroll l-r AND up/down drives me nuts. Moose, the Avatars used to be limited to 100px and now they are allowed 150px - not my choice of limits, but the program. It is PROBABLY because I changed the Width of the Default Window. I have a 22" Wide Screen Monitor, and there was so much space on either side, so I got greedy Each Theme has different Colors, but most of them have not been width-modified by me. In Profile, try another Theme, and see if it works better for you as far as scrolling across goes. If so, then I may just have to set our Default Width back to the Original... just for you! You may also be able to hit Ctrl - (that's Control Minus), which will reduce the Size of your Screen Font - you can also hit Ctrl + to enlarge. To bad that doesn't work for everything Anyone else having issues with Scrolling across?

Damn it Venter. Must you screw with everything? I still don't know how to create an avatar. I don't know squat about Mozilla although I do have a Godzilla collection.
My mind is up my rectum along with my head because I spend every day at the hospital (yep, Mom has been in since Sunday) and I don't have a smart phone. I haven't been able to keep up with anything.
If I ever find some free time I'm going to bombard you with questions about this. If Mom comes home (no more nursing home; home care and then hospice) I will be housebound unless she has a sitter. I'll never figure this out on my own.
I'd greatly appreciate Nile sending his Four Horseman after me.
Ha! After 30 minutes and a Yuengling I figured out the avatar thing. I'm smarter that you know I am.

The only thing that annoys me about the change is it never takes me to the newest post anymore when I click on "new" to the left of the thread title. Not 100% sure if it's a board thing or a browser issue.

The only thing that annoys me about the change is it never takes me to the newest post anymore when I click on "new" to the left of the thread title. Not 100% sure if it's a board thing or a browser issue. "New" means that there is something New that was posted in a Topic since you last visited. It also lets you know if you've "Participated" in that particular Topic. I still use the "New Topics" feature, just below the BoroVENT logo. Go to this Link: boroughvent.proboards.com/threads/recent... and then save that as your BoroVENT Homepage. Some of you may not be familiar with this... If you look at your web page, you will see the "boroughvent.proboards.com/..." In that Address Bar, there is also a little round icon to the left of "boroughvent". Below the address bar are the names of the Websites that you have probably saved on your "Bookmarks Toolbar". You can also save the BoroVENT Page by Clicking on that Ball Icon, and dragging it down to the line with your other favorites. Much easier than it looks in this explanation - just click and drag one little thing!
