Hey Ventor...I read in Fred Snyder's "Around Town" today that he sniffs the melons at the grocery store before he buys it. Do you sniff your melons, or tap em ? Just curious ?

I also noticed he is "finicky" about his meat.

Sometimes I squeeze the melons, espcially the large ones!

I thump the melons and squeeze the lemons. I'm pretty cautious about what I sniff.
And... I'm particular about who touches my meat.

Don't leave your melons in the grocery back to ripen and develop that melony smell. They become moldy very quickly. Then no one wants to tap them.
Lately I've developed a strong affinity for Spam, olives and sharp cheese with a Yuengling or three. Not too many people want to touch that meat.

Gotta love Spam! Especially with eggs, homefries and baked beans for a great camping breakfast! As for the crackers and cheese thing: YES!

As for melons; I like my melons to smell good before I feel them . Also, a good lick or two before eating them is the best test! I heard that Marie Osmond has produced nice melons. I don't like my melons too awfully large. They're very hard to handle when they get overly grown. A nice size would be somewhere between a medium to large grapefruit. All in all, I like all parts equally as well and melons are a substantial priority to selecting a full meal.
