In the Sheriff's race Redding has quoted budgets and right to know requests, facts. Muller has used slurs and outright lies. In today's Times he states the K9 lawsuit never happened. Let's refresh his memory. www.eveningsun.com/localnews/ci_18821146 There in lies the reason to vote Redding! A Sheriff who cannot give an accurate accounting does not deserve to hold the office!

Nice try - but it seems the Voters actually knew the truth and how to read the "INJUNCTION" that was filed against Sheriff Muller - (what you want to call a Lawsuit) It only amounts to Legal verbage. But you can call it whatever you want now - it didn't amount to a hill of beans and that is evidenced by the support shown to Sheriff Muller. His opponent should have had more to offer and maybe he would have done better. Many voters were extremely upset about his lies and negative campaigning - as we heard it on a daily basis. He chose the wrong path.

Deputy Sheriff, if Muller had debated Redding, he could have challenged him in person with a room full of witnesses and anwered everyone of the mistruths that was put out there in his own words and not spoken bya a representative of his. If they had debated Redding might have been able to challenge Muller with his facts and the voters could see how the two responded to the questions/acusations. Maybe Muller was afraid to debate Redding?

Well Deputy, I would give a lot more credit to your claim “the Voters actually knew the truth” and “evidenced by the support shown to Sheriff Muller” if 25% of his votes had not come from people who voted a straight Republican ticket. Those people voted a straight ticket voted for the party, not for candidates. Had Bobo the chimp been running for Sheriff on the Republican ticket, those 2,284 people would have voted for him. I have been voting for 45 years now, and I have never see a ticket in which I supported, or would vote for everyone who was running under one party. I don't know if these people are just so loyal to the party for some reason, are to lazy to make more than one mark on the ballet, or just don't care. I'll bet a few of those people who voted the straight republican ticket said, "you know if Redding was a republican, I would vote for him." Of course the people you heard from supported your side of the story. Tell me, Mike got over 6,000 votes. How many people told you they were voting for Mike? Probably about the same number as told Mike to his face that they were voting for you.

As a now outsider, I'd imagine the winner of the contest has a lot more to do with what political symbol is in front of their names than merits or truth about any injunction or lawsuit. AS FMB said, it's straight ticket voting. The same thing would happen out here in W.PA, except it would go the other way party-wise.
To pretend that it's on merits and some sort of proof of truth through voting is way overreaching.

I find it interesting that the Sheriff didn't care how close the race was, as quoted in the G-burg Times. Seems he should have taken that as a "wake up call" and maybe examine how he is doing things.

I'm sure this was a figure of speech. The numbers represent not enough people thought Mr. Redding was the right person for the job. He lost as a Republican and now he lost as a Democrat, so I'm curious what party he will be with in 4 years ?? Just a thought. He obviously had no plans or goals and ran a campaign based on negative, wrong information, trying everything he could think of to get votes, but unfortunately for him - to no avail.

It's all over now, and we'll never know if the outcome would have been different had there been an Actual Debate. My guess is NO - but it would have been good to hear the Sheriff's views in response to Redding's claims... from his own mouth. Muller had nothing to gain from a debate, and Redding had nothing to lose. Good play by Muller... why take a chance on fumbling in the Red Zone, when you can take a knee?
There is such apathy in the County, especially when it comes down to an "off-year" election. I wouldn't consider any of these a "wake up call" or any sort of "mandate". The people couldn't care less.
The saddest part of all is that less than 30% of the citizens of Adams County considered it important enough to choose their Sheriff - or any representatives for that matter.

Marty Qually is proof that straight ticket voting works (at least for the guy it benefits), look at most elections stupid people often vote that way because they don't understand that party lines don't mean shit when we are talking races like Sheriff , boro council positions like that when will people ever start using the brain they were given .
