For the last week, around the light at Herr's Ridge on 30 I get this nasty smell like raw sewage, or somebodies septic gone bad. Morning, noon, or night I smell it. If I can smell it in my car with the windows closed I can imagine what it would smell like out in the open air! Has anyone else noticed this?

Maybe it's just in your car, and you should roll your windows DOWN! If I recall, every once in awhile there are truckloads of "Municipal Waste" dumped onto the farm there. I may be wrong... but I do recall seeing something like that. It's called "Night Soil"

Ask Dave Sites about the application of animal waste by the Park Service on neighboring property.

All I know is that it smells nasty! And it's not a manure smell!

Ask Dave Sites about the application of animal waste by the Park Service on neighboring property. Park Service doesn't spread animal waste. The farmers that farm park ground might spread some, but, not the NPS. I guess you could argue that the NPS slings a lot of BS, but, not in this case.

Yes indeed I have noticed! I pass through there every evening on my way home from work. It is really the worst stench smell. Caused me to wonder what it could be... Can't imagine living in the area...

Been off line for awhile and didn't have a chance to comment. Manure stored at the farm by Willoughby Run on Herr Ridge Road sitting down in the valley, the odor just lingers. I think it has been spread now so smell shouldn't be so bad.
