Saw in the paper today that our efficient and productive Gettysburg Town Council held a second meeting on a proposed Steinwehr grant because they improperly...and perhaps even illegally...conducted a previous meeting with just four members present.
My question is, why is President Birkner so dismissive when it comes to admitting he made a mistake and called the original meeting to order? Instead he claims its a "gray area" and there is much "ambiguity."
Do you or do you not need five council members present to call a meeting to order? Seems like everyone is drinking kool-aid.
Former council president John Butterfield claims they held the second meeting to "collect more data and paperwork." He's kidding, right?

Hmm, Fred Snyder calls them out in his weekly column then a few days later they have a meeting to make sure things are legal.

Butterfield''s act is old. He gets demoted from the Presidency because of his constant micro managing, yet he some how receives more press than any of the other council members combined. If the Steinwehr project is 'so important' to the vitality of the Third Ward, then why did only one Third Ward councillor bother to show up at the first meeting?

Of course, Fred Snyder is just picking on the Council. Remember that he doesn't even attend the meetings! I think the Borough would be much better off if Butterfield would just RESIGN... for "Personal Reasons". I don't think that any other Single Councilperson (or multiple, for that matter) has done more to Restrict Progress in the Borough. But then again, that's probably something he's very proud of.
