Weaver is a Republican? Are you sure. Can you imagine Pitzer at party meetings trying to justify Weaver's vote and allegiance to Birkner, Butterfield and Naugle.

There was an article in the paper this week about the ABC looking for an in-town site, and whether they would have to pay GMA for water and sewer hookups at a site on Steinwehr, where the article says the connections were removed when the Elby's building was demolished. Please help alleviate my ignorance: where are they talking about? I thought the ABC was considering the former Steinwehr Bistro/Mayflower site, where a building still stands, and where a Hardee's was in the 1970s. Thank you.

Anonymous, I think the Property they are discussing is the Corner Lot, next to Driveway into the Heritage Museum (former Wax Museum) - so between the Museum and the Gas Station.
There have been SEVERAL Rumors/Suggestions as to where ABC may relocate.

Next to the wax museum (I worked there as a dishwasher when it was Shoneys). So they demolished it?!!
(not that it had any redeeming qualities other than being my first job).

davew, when you worked @ Shoney's, per chance do you recall working with Ellen Chudovan or Jim Brandt?
On a side note has anyone heard more on the rumors that the Pike and the two adjacent properties are being targeted by the "Foundation"?

Philliesfan, You might have noticed that this Forum is a little "light" in content. Much of our discussion happens here: www.facebook.com/groups/boroventgettysburg/The rumors are being discussed there too. Look for the post by Nick Myers.

Davew, If it had been noted that you previously worked there, maybe it would have been given greater status - and therefore never permitted to be demolished. I think you should have had some input!

On a side note has anyone heard more on the rumors that the Pike and the two adjacent properties are being targeted by the "Foundation"? I think Ellen was a waitress while I was there. I was in band and so was Ellen (she's a couple of years older than me- and taller than me, too! I didn't know her that well but she was nice), and Jim's sister was in my grade from elementary through HS at Gettysburg. I didn't know Jim, though. I don't know if he was a waiter the year I was there or not. I only remember them having one male waiter, and the guy had blonde hair. People washing dishes back where I was didn't talk to the waitresses very often! They were sort of out with regular folks, and all of us backwards individuals were in the kitchen walking on the floor that had years of accumulated grease. You could run back the hall and then stop your feet and slide like you're on ice. The only time we saw much of the waitresses was when the clean dishes ran out on the salad bar.

Maybe I need to order a plaque and have it installed there

It is all most time for ABC Battlefield to close its doors for good.
