Hi, Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. is there a city dump of landfill in Gettysburg, I thought there used to be. I'm trying to clear out my garage of stuff and didn't want to deal with private companies if possible.
Thanks.

Thanks. slikrick, there is no city dump in Gettysburg (aside from borough council but that's another issue). There is an area which the borough uses for their debris but nothing for the public. If you don't want to pay your trash hauler, check the newspaper ads for people who will haul junk for a fee. There are a number of people listed and perhaps they will give estimates at no charge if you call them. Also, the AMVETS pick up usable items every 5 weeks on Mondays. If you have things that others may find useful, give the Fairfield AMVETS a call and see if they can hook you up with the lady who calls my house every few weeks. Good luck.

yes and I know the Franklin County dump will take some things, but not sure if they will take everything. But I believe the do have a charge per pound, but would also be something to check into

There's a man on freecycle.net who will come and pick stuff up. He takes metal stuff and recycles it. No charge. Just post it to the freecycle list.
