At the PGCB Hearing, someone actually asked, "What Would Jesus Do?"
Nobody really knows what He would do, but judging by what He purportedly did in the PAST, the following ideas may be a representation of His actions if he were here today.
Casino Opponents are concerned about the "effects" of a Casino on the businesses in this area.
BUT, I contend that there is precedence in previous actions by Jesus Christ, which may predict his future behavior.
* When a crowd of His followers were hungry, instead of going to a local restaurant, He decided to conjure up some Bread and Fish.
That also took jobs away from fishermen and bakers.
* Instead of sending one of the Disciples down to the liquor store, He decided to make His own wine for a wedding party. Probably didn't have a State tax stamp either.
* At His Last Supper? Instead of ordering a nice catered buffet, He decided to give His buddies His own Body & Blood. I'll bet they remembered THAT meal for quite awhile!
* He took a stroll on the water, instead of using the services of a water taxi.
* He said to Peter, "Upon this rock, you shall build My Church." Sounds like Eminent Domain to me!
Did he skirt Zoning Regulations?
Was there an M.O.U.?
Did anyone check the location for previous Battles or bodies?
He really didn't seem too concerned about effects on the existing businesses at the time...
He healed without charging for services - so much for Doctors trying to make a living!
He provided free meals - Already discussed above.
He performed lessons - taking jobs away from teachers.
He spoke to the masses - no wonder the Priests hated Him.
He had 12 guys follow Him around all the time - what did He pay them to follow Him? They couldn't possibly do that without pay, could they? Were they underpaid? Could they even rely on tips?
So in the long run, He may have not been the best role model for fairness to the local business community.
