Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Gettysburg Station found Christopher Lynn Johnson, 27, around 9:40 a.m. in Franklin Township, Adams County, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.
The release went on to say, "There is no information to suggest there are any other individuals outstanding as it relates to this investigation. This is still an on going investigation."
Johnson faces charges of first-degree murder, firearms violations, and other charges. He is receiving treatment in a local hospital.
Before Johnson was found, police said he should be treated as armed and dangerous. They also said he might have been injured and in need of medical treatment.
Johnson does have a criminal record. In 2002, he pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of children, according to court documents.
Grove was on patrol when he witnessed what he thought was a poaching incident, according to police. He called for assistance and ordered Johnson and his passenger out of the pickup truck, police said.
Johnson and Grove exchanged gunfire, according to police. Johnson suffered a non-life-threatening wound to his hip, police said.
Cumberland Township police officers arrived within minutes of the assistance call, according to police.
Commission Identifies Slain Officer

The shooting happened at about 10:45 p.m. in the area of Schriver rd and red rock in freedom twp.

I just heard that the first responding officers tried frantically to save/revive Officer Grove before medical personnel arrived. I'm surprised that wasn't mentioned in any of the media reports. I can't imagine what those officers went through that night. God bless them.

I can't imagine what those officers went through that night. God bless them. Yes jojo it was horrible. And for Venter, I can understand what you are saying but I don't know if you could understand what it was like for those who were there. I recognized the voices of some of those first responders, but they were not the same. It's different when it is one of your own. Very different. I don't know how to explain it. In this instance Venter I think you need to give everyone a break on how this was handled. It probably was one of the worst things they have ever had to deal with. And I think everyone did the best they could in the absolute worst of circumstances.

Lifesaver I agree and know from experience when responding to and working on one of your own things take on a different aspect. I remember many years ago in DC, I received an injury on the fireground. I didn’t notice it, but one of my fellow firefighters did, and immediately pulled me to the back of the squad telling me I was injured. He notified the Incident Commander of an injured fire fighter, and soon I was covered with bandages from just above my mouth to my forehead. No ambulances were available, so I was transported to the hospital in a police car with lights and sirens, and a two police car escort.
The physician in the ER put two stitches in a very minor laceration to my cheek, put a band aid on it, and I was back on the scene in about 45 minutes.
When responding to our own, sometimes we maybe don’t think as clearly as we should and at times over react.
And fortunately we don’t have this type of incident around here very often, and it is highly possible that an EMT or Paramedic could serve a long career and never respond to a gun shot incident or such a serious incident, or an incident involving one of their own.
