okay I have the Today show on and that ad has now just run for the second time in an hour. During a prime show ads are not cheap - normally it is national companies that run ads due to the cost. And the voice on the TV ad is also Sam Waterston from Law and order - I definately want to do some digging I know if you request the financials on a Non Profit they have to provide them so I guess I will be making some requests to see what I come up with - I am just so mad that this money is being wasted and people have most likely making donations thinking it is going to one thing only to be used on this massive advertising campaign. What a crock.

I think we should be careful assuming the CWPT funded those ads. It could be one of the celebs they got to do their video. Those ads on national TV are quite expensive but at the same time I think we have the right to know who is funding them. If anyone knows how we can go about it and would like help or needs some leg work done I would be willing to help out.

there is an article in the Evening Sun tonight that states the CWPT paid for the ads with donations that came from someone that said it was to pay for radio and TV ads only. Of course SSP says they don't know who the donor is but is thankful what a crock!

I find it funny they don't know who gave them the money but it was given to a group who's president has family ties to a competing casino to be used to fight this one.............
and instead of returning of the money and informing the donor that public comment period was over and getting more people to support them would be useless as they are only waiting for the final decision they went ahead and used the money any how

To Jean Siderio I say: It's a shame Jean that you guys don't hold the CWPT to the same standard considering they have to be close to 6 figures spent (maybe more?) fighting this thing. Think of all the good that could have been done with THAT money. Of course you'd only see the problem with this if you ACTUALLY cared about preserving anything other than your own agenda. To Shea whoever, what giant field are you talking about? He looks to be all of about 12 so I won't rip him too bad but good God, what does it take to get these NCG goons to learn even the most basic facts about what they're speaking out against.

so who wants to donate money to run the Violent videos? I'll empty my small savings account to get the ball rolling. I had to velcro the remote to my hip last night so that I could change channels when that crap came on.

Go to this site www.civilwar.org/battlefields/gettysburg/gettysburg-powers-hill-2010/a-message-from-jim-lighthizer.html and look at Jim Lighthizers' "plea" for just $75,000 to preserve 5 acres. He could have used 5% of the wasted Commercial Money to buy that land!As was mentioned at yesterday's meeting, there are 7.9 Acres ADJACENT to the Battlefield, on Emmitsburg Road that CWPT could buy... and that wasted money could have gone a LONG way toward that goal. Who knows? With Dave LeVan at the helm of the Casino, I would venture a guess that some of his donations - as he ALWAYS HAS - could even go to Battlefield Preservation efforts for properties such as those.

I'm not sure how this all works but if it works like I think it does and the land will be non taxable. I'm not for it. How much land do we really need to preserve here how many open fields really need to be preserved? I think what this county needs is tax $$$ over placing more land into non taxable preservation so people can look at an over grown field. I'm sure my opinion isn't popular but it's mine. I just don't see the insationable need to preserve every piece of ground someone in the civil war walked, slept or shit on.

You've been saying it from the beginning and Sal called you a liar. I know that you are thoroughly pissed off but anyone who thought that you were crying "wolf" knows damned well now that you were right. Small satisfaction I know but YOU WERE RIGHT!!! Well FT, I'm sure like 99% of boroughvent believed me as I sure MD and PCAC did too (as many people told me they had reason to think the same). I didn't really care about that. I just flat out can't stand Sal and think he's every bit the same as SSP and violet and he's tried rubbing my nose in the fact that I was never able to "PROVE" anything before so this is just another [ expletive deleted] to Sal from me and I wanted to make sure it was clearly spelled out for his espresso drinking self to read. Edit by Venter: Sorry Spellchecker, that is the ONE USE of one of my favorite words that I don't really like to see on BoroVENT. A member-to-member cursing is not necessary. Use your other words, but remember, this isn't just Sal that you're pissed off at. Hell, I'd even go so far as to tell the whole NCG group to GO f~(< themselves, but individual Members are somewhat more protected.
Gene Sorry Spellchecker that I caused you to be....censored.... I didn't even notice the word. I kind of think we've seen the last of Sal until after the license is awarded to MD.

Gene Gosh Ron, you're still going on about money coming from a casino to back NCG. Still I'm asking, where is the proof? For months now you keep talking about it but where is the proof except you claim its true?? You sound all puffy again, but you have nothing because there is nothing. You just don't get that a lot of people feel strongly about the issue of a casino here and put their money where their mouths are. Bill, (re your comment from a different post here) you can't seriously believe that everyone misunderstands and is supporting NCG because they believe that the casino is in the park. The fact that its as close as its proposed and in the immediate Gettysburg area matters a great deal to a lot of people. The fact that its in an existing building doesn't mean anything - it that a CASINO would be where they are asking to put it. If it were underground, , it would not matter. Also - Everything said on the web sites, commercials etc says a half mile from the field. Now Ron, you DO have the situation where your friends at Penn National bankrolled the local no casino group in Arundell Mills in support of the Jockey Club so Laurel Park Race Track would have a crack at that license. Here's the article in case you think I'm making it up. www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/bs-md-slots-referendum-results-20101102,0,80515.story In fact, I believe if you look somewhere on Facebook, when that article came out, SSP made a comment on how they should never have taken money from a casino. Why do that if we were doing the same thing? So I'm not surprised at your most recent comments about me Ron, pardon me while I have another cup of espresso

SFP, I just feel sad for you at this point. Susan and her pals played you buddy. O. James Lighthizer, head of the CWPT, is a former Anne Arundel County Executive. He has many many friends there including some who hope to bring a casino to their county. A casino that would make a lot of his buddies a lot of money. A project that would lose potential revenue if a casino was licensed in say, Adams County PA just a couple of miles from the Maryland border. Why isn't NCG holding themselves to the same standard they hold everyone else to? Why can't any record of NCG as non profit be found? Why won't they simply show proof themselves and put an end to the speculation? Why do they deflect and change the subject anytime someone asks about where their money has come from?
I'd love to see the Times or Evening Sun go digging but the unfortunate reality is that neither paper has the staff or money to commit to that kind of investigation.
You hitched your wagon to a bunch of lying unethical scumbags Sal and now you're one of them. It's just that simple.

Oh and by the way Sal,
It's my understnading that the Jockey club which is seperate from Penn national gave them the money and if you knew as much about the industry as you think you do you would also know the reason they are so upset is because the horse racing industry is pissed off because they fought and lobbied for years to get gambling in MD and now they aren't getting a piece of the pie.
I don't agree with them funding anti casino groups. I think their money would have been much better spent informing the public of their postion than funding anti-wack jobs (oops didn't mean to offend you)
