"What Will be Your Legacy?"Slow TV night, so I watched the Steelers game during commercials of other more exciting shows - like "Watching Paint Dry, With the Stars"! Anyway, there it was, a Commercial for No Casino Gettysburg, interrupting the other commercials during halftime. So where IS their money coming from anyway? Who exactly is this targeting at this late date? I guess they're betting that the Gaming Commissioners were watching the pounding of the Steelers.

I'd like to know where their money is coming from also and why they aren't showing up as a REGISTERED non profit when they claim to be.
I'm getting to the point that not only am I curious to see what their money situation is but that I'm going to start digging to find it. If they are a registered non profit then this is all open and publicly disclosed info. I just find it weird that not only can it be found on the online sources but they don't even turn up as being a registered non profit.

my guess would be the Civil War Preservation Trust. I would not be surprised if CWPT is purchasing the tv time outright rather than providing NCG with "grant" money, because THEY would have to report on the dispursement of their funds... I suppose that someone could request their audit reports, but the ones for this year are likely not available until well into 2011...
Seems to me there used to be a statement on their donation site stating that they are a non-profit but that donations are NOT tax deductible, I could not find it there anymore... Maybe they are not an official "non-profit" which is usually called a 501(c)3. I am sure that there are other kinds, but that is the pretty standard...
Do you think that SSP gets a paycheck from NCG? Maybe some overhead funds for running the organization. Does she run it out of her home? She could then also get rent money too...

Did you notice that the last scene on the commercial had a kid standing beside the statue of Brig Gen Warren? No one is allowed on that rock on which the monument stands. Just more evidence that they are not above breaking rules to make their point.

Just wondering, if she runs the business out of her house, and has people come in to conduct business, does she have a Certificate of Occupancy?

Its still there.....right hand side just down from the top nocasinogettysburg.ning.com/Also says they are all volunteers so I wouldnt think they are being paid although I have often wondered if anyone was taking a salary

I'd like to know where their money is coming from... The Civil War Preservation Trust. I know why youre saying that. I just can't see why a preservation group would be spending boku amounts of money to stop a casino when they are supposed to be a group who preserves historic land. Stopping this casino does nothing to preserve historic land. If that many people are really writing them this many checks to fight this casino I think the people writing these checks need to step back and think about what their priorites are. I can think of quite a few causes much more deserving than this to be donating money to

Youre right but the were operating atleast for the last part of last year. We are almost at the end of this year I fail to believe thats not enough time for them to be put into the system

They have no idea that a building and business already exist there, and that it is just a campaign to stop a legal business.

Filthy NCG.

Stopping this casino does nothing to preserve historic land...I've mentioned it before: Jim Lighthizer, CEO/ President/ Whatever of the CWPT, is ALSO the father of Jim Lighthizer in Arundel Mills. His son's Real Estate business leases space in and around Arundel Mills Mall. If THEY get the MD Casino, then we would be direct competition - or at least, that's probably what he is assuming. ALSO, Penn National (our potential Gaming Partner) was involved in trying to have the available License moved to Laurel Racetrack instead of Arundel Mills. I guess this is Lighthizer's way of getting back at them. Check out the Archive here: www.boroughvent.com/PunBB/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3744

Also I'd like to point out to MR sal way back when I said some of my friends in the gaming industry told me that NCG was being proped up by a comepeting casino. Sal ran around saying I screaming that I was wrong and tin foil hat wearing lunitic. It looks like that was another one of my predictions that came to be true EH sal?
Rememeber how you kept asking me when the things I was saying would be revealed?........... They couldnt give me the exact names or even tell me which competing casino it was because they do business with the gaming company involved and didn't want to ruin business relationships. I gave the information to PCAC and they told me they weren't really worried with it. Obv I had no choice but to let it go because I personaly had no way of going the the steps to shed light on who it was but apparently someone did.
Not sure if youre keeping score Sal o boy but it looks like this one is another one for me.
By the way sorry for the sloppier than normal posts today gang I was working and typing at the same time......

I'm just saying that I feel that is the impression everyone has. The last time I looked at their page, they talked about all the land they have purchases here and there, and then the ad that says Save Gettysburg. When I see it I get the impression they are planning to purchase land. But I am very sure a much better educated person than me will see the difference.

Well FT, I'm sure like 99% of boroughvent believed me as I sure MD and PCAC did too (as many people told me they had reason to think the same). I didn't really care about that. I just flat out can't stand Sal and think he's every bit the same as SSP and violet and he's tried rubbing my nose in the fact that I was never able to "PROVE" anything before so this is just another [ expletive deleted] to Sal from me and I wanted to make sure it was clearly spelled out for his espresso drinking self to read. Edit by Venter: Sorry Spellchecker, that is the ONE USE of one of my favorite words that I don't really like to see on BoroVENT. A member-to-member cursing is not necessary. Use your other words, but remember, this isn't just Sal that you're pissed off at. Hell, I'd even go so far as to tell the whole NCG group to GO f~(< themselves, but individual Members are somewhat more protected.

I didn't know you well enough to judge what you knew or didn't know. I paid attention to what you said and I read Sal's reactions. Like they say in poker - Sal has a "tell" and that was mocking what you were saying. You were closer to the truth than he liked. I think that you played him well and you've been right all along.

hmm as a real non profit all their financial records must be made public. So how do we go about requesting this info - I would love to see the amount of money they have spent on advertising - Sunday it was on twice during Meet the Press - also I did not realize that donations made to real non profits were not tax deductible. I have done numerous searches on different sites that list all PA non profits and have found nothing fo NCG.

As you said none of us can seem to find them listed any where as a not for profit group either. I personaly have started 2 differnt threads about this on BV with links to even the federal site for NP's and they aren't listed there. Of corse like everything else with them we are expected to believe it an over site or honest mistake

NCG has also been running a radio commercial. On Sunday I heard it on 580AM TWICE in 15 minutes on my way into town, and then I heard it again later in the day! Yesterday I heard it 4 times, twice on my way to work a and twice on the way home.
It's funny...the voice on the commercial is none other than Sam Waterston, from Law and Order and his tone is........somber. The best part is the end of the commercial...he pleads for the public to "contact" the Pa. Gaming Commission! I guess the NCG is ignoring yet another rule, the public comment time ended on November 1st!
I hope someone DOES find out where the NCG's funding is coming from. ...because when you add up the cost of all the mailings, billboards, their full page ads in the papers, the TV commercials, radio commercials and of course their "printing" costs at Staples, we're talking BIG BUCKS. I suspect the CWPT is footing some of the bill, but as a non-profit entity whose mission is land preservation, I would think they wouldn't want to be accountable to their members for spending in excess of a hundred grand or so on the NCG's media campaign. If the NCG is NOT a non-profit group, I wonder who would "donate" this kind of money to them. This is a REALLY interesting situation! donations
