How many of you remembered that today is the anniversary of the Normandy D-Day invasion?

No mention of it anywhere on the major news websites when I looked earlier this morning. I haven't looked since then but it's a fucking shame there was no mention. This date is one arguably one of the top 5 most important dates/events in modern civilization.

It's my wife's birthday , yes but no . It is the day the allied forces started the battle of Normandy that would last what seemed forever and by the spring of 1945 they would be marching on the way across Europe to beat the crap out of Hitler's thugs , oh and it should be a holiday in France to celebrate that because of if not for the brave Patriots they would be speaking German instead of French .I do believe the causalities of that whole battle was around 10,000 Allied troops .You must forgive me if this isn't 100 % accurate because it's been a few years since 7th grade .

I thought it was interesting that as I was out yesterday I ask people about the importance of the date. When I told them D-Day, one person corrected me, informing me that D-Day is December 7th.
