I like the arrowheads and the alligator teeth but what in the world is a Musket Nipple Protector?

I like the arrowheads and the alligator teeth but what in the world is a Musket Nipple Protector? It's not what you think, FT. The musket nipple, properly called the cone, is what the percussion cap sits on. The protector is a metal cap that sits on top of the cone to protect it from damage from being banged around and from water going down and wetting the powder. I've only seen them on 1853 Enfields but that doesn't mean that other makes/models weren't using them.

I have thousands of items yet to put up, including Civil War, and a shipment of Sommes (French, German and Brit) due it, not even getting into hundreds of fossils.

When I was young and thought that I could be anything I wanted to be I dreamed of being a paleontologist or an archaeologist. When Philip of Macedon's tomb was discovered I cried with excitement.

We have taken more than a thousand fossil reptile tracks off our Dinosaur Age site in Maryland 15 minutes from Gettysburg. We'll soon be posting the surplus on eBay and our Ecrater store.
