Celtic version of Shenandoah? At least it isn't that dreadful weeper "Danny Boy". There are many wonderful Celtic groups from both sides of the pond - this television production is made for the non-connoisseur. Schlock in my book. Ever since Flatley's Lord of the Dance hit the jackpot, these dreadful and over-staged productions have become the rage. You couldn't pay me to sit through one of these events. Go hear the local group, Cormorant's Fancy, for good unadorned Celtic music.

Go hear the local group, Cormorant's Fancy, for good unadorned Celtic music. We used to go to the Fairfield Inn to see them fairly regularly, haven't seen 'em in ages. I guess I figured the daughter went off to college and the son got married and they petered out... Do they actually still play locally?

I saw Dr. Folkemer a few months ago at a funeral and he confirmed that they still play. Whether they play as often as they used to I do not know but I believe they played at the Seminary on the 4th of July weekend. I've seen them several times over the years, always fun to hear them.
