October 13th is recognized as the birthday of the United States Navy. The Continental Navy was formed on this date in 1775. However on August 1st 1785 the congress auctioned of the last remaining Continental Navy vessel. It wasn’t until 1794 that congress authorized the purchase of any more ships for the navy. So since we recognize the navy as being 237 years old, please remember that for nine years it was a navy with no ships.
If you know a navy veteran or someone serving now, wish them a happy birthday.

Amen, FMB! As a former HM2/USN, I proudly served in the U.S. To this day I frequently wear Navy emblazoned t- shirts showing my allegiance to this worthwhile branch of American military service and might.

To you and all veterans Sir proudly declare and display your service. And please remember that all veterans are encourage to wear their military decorations on Memorial day and Veterans Day. I hope you and others will proudly let people know of your service to the country.
