Thanks lifesaver. I have a small daughter and when it comes to exposing her to that kind of crap believe it or not, my wife is actually more permissive. I don't even like her seeing some commercials that are on network TV during prime time. Add that to the Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus's of the world it it all adds up to parent needs to be double vigilant. I'm a prude when it comes to exposing my kids to that crap. Now, does that mean I'm on the side of groups like the Parents Television Council? Absolutely not. I don't mind having to be a hands on parent involved in my kid's lives. I have a great disdain for groups that seek to impose their morality over everyone by petitioning the government to take material they find inappropriate for my kids out of circulation. The biggest problem we have as a society when confronting these images is that there's a lot of people out there who don't want to have to actually act as parents. They don't want to have to make tough choices. They'd rather have someone else make those choices. My little girl, as beautiful as she may be, is always going to know that her brain is her most important asset.

I guess raising a son somewhat insulated me from many of the issues here. My life was filled with boy stuff. This video really hit home for me. There is a whole world of untapped resources out there, all we need to do is cultivate it and help it grow. It kind of makes you wonder though, if women like Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin looked more like Madeline Albright do you think they would be taken more seriously?
