The Allied Veterans Council of Adams County cordially invites you and your family to attend our annual Veteran’s Day Program. The program will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11:00 O’clock (11/11/11) at the American Legion Post 202 located at 528 E. Middle Street, Gettysburg.
This year’s guest speaker is John Hartzell, a Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. John received his commission through Coast Guard Officer Candidate School in 1984; he served on active duty for over 10 years and as a reservist for over 15 years. His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, and the Coast Guard Achievement Medal.
We plan to have P.O.W./M.I.A, ritual service again this year. Also, a service of remembrance will be held outside in tribute to our deceased comrades who died during this past year. There will be a Reading and Burning of the Scroll with memorial voles fired by the Allied Veterans honor guard. The program will also include patriotic music selections by the Apple Core Band. Light refreshments will be served after the program.
