This new group formed but now they are asking their facebook page members if they are vetrans to sign this petiton.
Well hold on a minute here haven't these people already signed a petition? How many differnt petitions can they sign and keep counting names here?
I mean maybe we should just form like 50 differnt groups and keep signing each petition in hopes no one will notice its the same people over and over.
some group ideas:
Homosexuals for the casino
over weight people for the casino
skinny people for the casino
white people for the casino
black people for the casino
mexicans for the casino
french for the casino
canadians for the casino
Lesbians for the casino
single parents for the casino
married couples for the casino
It's endless what we would could do. Seriously where does this shit stop?

it probably won't stop for a long time. Once we are awarded license, you'd best believe that will only fire up the anti-business and anti- rule-of-law people at NCg and they will sue, they will picket, they will make life a living hell for the casino operators and their employees. I'd say that will last at least a year before most of them drop off because they realize they can't win.

How long before a decision is reached? I think they are looking at a decision by the end of the year. They are accepting written comments for 60 days after the local hearings, and I believe the last one was on September 8th, so November 8th would be the last day for them to send written comments. I would imagine unless they already have their mind made up, I don't expect them to make a decision till the middle of December. |

I noticed that their online petition has only space for name and E-mail, will the board accept that with no way to identify where they are from, or even if these people actually exist?

What hypocrites i think we should take away their small games of chance because they think it is so wrong to gamble so close to the Battle field well their Gettysburg post is a hell of a lot closer than a half a mile .  |

And I did notice on the on-line petition that James Paddock is signature # 27. I find it hard to believe that this is the first petition he has signed, and has been holding out for this one. Or is is possible that he is trying to sneak his name into the records more than once. I wonder how many other petitions he has signed? Maybe they don't actually have 8,000 signatures, maybe they just have five people signing 1,600 times each. Wouldn't their hands get tired?
One comment on their petition that I liked "Please don't listen to this group of Veterans. They don't speak for all of us. "

What hypocrites i think we should take away their small games of chance because they think it is so wrong to gamble so close to the Battle field well their Gettysburg post is a hell of a lot closer than a half a mile . ya know, if we were absolutely insane like NCG is, we would picket and boycott the various clubs until they stop gambling and bringing crime and addiction to our town. But, unfortunately, we have the ability to reason and our side believes in freedom. We also don't think gambling is wrong. And, to my mind, if anyone has actually earned the right to do as they please, it's a vet. So, I won't do that or call for it. But I hope one of these vets sees this and realizes how hypocritical it makes them look. |

I fthe american legion is sooooo against gambling near the battlefield than I would hope that the commander will be doing away with the holder tickets and such???
I mean lets face it you wanna talk about gambling addiction.............proximity of the battlefield. Lets start right there at the legion.
Maybe we need to put something together and ask the commander publicly maybey through the times or something if he plans to take gambling out of the legion and if not why is it ok for the legion but not a casino

Let me make one very quick point. Does it strike anyone as being hypocritical that these veterans organizations have taken a stand to keep a person from starting a legal business, on private property in an existing building that is not on the Gettysburg National Military Park, or even or visible from what has been designated a portion of the Gettysburg Battlefield Historical District, yet we have two veterans clubs, The Albert J. Lentz Post 202 or the American Legion and VFW Post 15, that are much closer to the Gettysburg National Military Park than the Proposed Mason Dixon. And both of these clubs are located on property that is designated as a part of the Gettysburg Battlefield Historical District. And both of these organizations have licenses for small games of chance, YES GAMBLING, but that is OK. I think that sends a very profound message to our neighbors.“No you can’t start a business that involves gambling close to the battlefield, and on private land, but we because of our service to our country are allowed to have gambling in our clubs on the battlefield.” I am a member of both of these organizations and I understand that both have members who support and oppose this issue and have decided to take a natural position. Yet some folks who do not live here, or pay taxes here, and some who have never and will probably never visit here have decided to give the impression that all veterans opposed this, and if we do not we should be ashamed. |

I don't see why it should be a problem to simply ask the commander or the legion as a whole why they are against this casino because they feel gambling detracts from the history here yet they have gambling. I mean we all sit on here all day bitching this is a perfect way for us to fire back with no chance of upsetting the PGCB or looking like assholes in any way. PCAC, MD Boroughventers is this something we can do?  |

When the legion first came out with their statement, they received many letters, e-mails and messages on their web page from local veterans and I do believe the commanders of all three post in Adams County posted messages chastising him for taking the position he did, and making the statement he did especially without consulting with the local post. But I would encourage folks to do so. I am now working on my letter to the Vietnam Memorial group. |

The reasoning is they do not want non-profits to have an unfair advantage in these hard economic times - they are also working on redoing the current structure of payouts and limits. I was told by a liquor control officer back this winter the reason for this is because many of the clubs around can and do sell allot more than the current law allows. It's actually profitable for them to exceed what they are allowed and pay the fine to the state. He also told me that the casinos in the state gave the state a bunch of money to start cracking down. |

Just wanted to say it was a pretty good turnout for the VETERANS FOR MASON-DIXON today.
We had 30 young and not so young veterans from every era from WW II through our current conflict. I know I enjoyed the few minutes of fellowship with some very fine men. I know it was at noon on a weekday with just a few days notice, but all in all I think pretty good.
Please let me thank all those who did show up for their time, and for allowing me the pleasure of spending a few minutes with you.

You know in talking with some of those men, especially those from WW II and Korea, and listening to their experiences that they would talk about, and looking at some of the decorations that they displayed on their covers (hats) we have some real damn heros in this community. But of course they will not make themselve to be heros, they did their job, but you don't get the kind of decorations that some of those men have, "just doing your job." I must say that just spending time with them made me very proud, and stand just a bit taller. |
