I was thinking today, yes I know me thinking is not good, but I was thinking of all those people out there who are doing thankless jobs that I would not care to do. I want it understood that I myself do not look at any job as being degrading or below me. I feel that any job that is being done will probably have to be done by someone and I am just glad it isn’t me.
Please allow me to thank all those people who do those jobs I don’t want to do. I want you to know that although nobody probably ever thanks you, there are those of us who appreciate what you do.
I can’t possibly name all of those jobs but let me mention just a few, and maybe others will add to the list.
Thank you to those work in the nursing homes and take care of our elderly. The nurses, the CNAs, the housekeeping staff, and the maintenance people. I know you job is demanding, and you are seldom thanked, but your work is appreciated. I know it is difficult for you to go into some rooms and have to explain to the resident who you are and why you are there, even though he/she has seen you every day for the past five years.
Thank you to the clerk at the wait staff at the local eateries. I do appreciate your service and attention. I know that although everyone is very quick to complain and very few say thank you, I for one do appreciate that you are there.
To the police officer who is out there day and night, rain or shine protecting me, my family and my friends. I know when you do your job there are those who complain and ask why they are being stopped and not that other guy. You are seldom if every thanked but you are doing your job and it is appreciated.
I am sure I will add other jobs to this list, and I am sure everyone can think of at least one job they would never want to do, but know they probably couldn’t survive if someone didn’t do it. Why not take some time and identify that job here, and say thank you to the people who do it?
