Marine Corps Birthday - On November 10th 1775 Capt Samuel Nicholas was authorized to form 2 Battalions of Continental Marines.
The Mameluke sword, worn by Marine officers, has been uniform wear since 1825 – the oldest military weapon worn by any branch of the United States Military. The Marine Corps button, first worn in 1800 is the original seal of the corps, still a part of the Marine Corps Uniform. The Marine Corps Hymn is the oldest song of the US military forces. (1919).
Having been established by Act of Congress in 1798 the United States Marine Corps Band is the oldest continuously Active Professional musical organization in the United States. It was named the President’s own by Thomas Jefferson when he was president.
Saturday November 10th, 2012, the United States Marine Corps will celebrate 237 years of service to this wonderful country.
You just have to love an organization that was first formed in a drinking establishment (Tun Tavern, in Philadelphia). You also have to appreciate an organization that has a belt buckle for their uniform that can open a beer bottle.
If you see a Marine on Saturday, say “Semper Fi, and Happy Birthday”
And, should you enjoy your favorite beverage Saturday evening, please lift your glass, and toast to “God, Country and the United States Marine Corps.” I know I will.
Good night, Chesty, wherever you are.

FMB, Show everyone those photos of yourself in your Tour Yearbook! C'mon! Venter if I could scan and post them, nobody would recognize me as I have gotten so much better looking through the years. But thank you for the though.

Oh yeah! It worked, but who is that handsome young man in the picture you uploaded? Thanks for serving Bill! In this small world we all live in, it turns out that Bill was Stationed at the same time and place in Viet Nam that my brother-in-law served. He brought in his Tour Yearbook (or whatever you call it) and there were several photos of my brother-in-law in it.

I can't breath when I have it on, but I fit into it.
