I have a friend who wants to come to Gettysburg and take a ghost tour and ask me for a recommendation. I haven't been on any of them, so does anyone have any suggestions as to the best one in town?

I'd suggest spending the money in a tavern or restaurant instead, since there are no ghosts. Tell them to buy a GM vehicle if they want to scare themselves for no reason.

Please tell the ghost in my house that slams the downstairs door on a weekly basis that there are no ghosts. It won't listen to me.

As I said, I have never been on one of the tours, and although I myself don't believe in them I will do understand that some people do.
I am just looking for my friend to have a good experience, and I know one of the tours has to be better than the others.

I did a quick check on line and found four good references for the one at the Farnsworth House. I understand your plight on this. Good luck and I hope they enjoy themselves.

Pick one I have it on good authority that no matter which one you pick they will not see anything!

Please tell the ghost in my house that slams the downstairs door on a weekly basis that there are no ghosts. It won't listen to me. Send it to my house. Given it's paranormal, I'm sure it can gather where I am without having to give it my address. Of course, I do firmly believe something else is slamming your door, like air movement. Believing it's a ghost is just sort of the path of least resistance.

I can't say I believe in ghost. But I have talked with some people who have had experienced in and around Gettysburg that can't be easily explained.
I also enjoy reading of the experiences other have had and especially if there is a story behind were the ghost may have originated.
Was it an experience involving ghost? I don't know, but when it can't be explained it does leave questions in my mind.

How perfect is it that this thread and the bigfoot one are immediately adjacent for now? Whatever floats your boat, folks. I put as much credence in this stuff as I do religion - it's simply a matter of faith.

I have a family member who had an experience with Rebel soldiers near Devil's Den. I believe his story because he didn't have anything to gain telling the story 30 plus years ago and the story remains unchanged. Liars usually can't remember their lies.

Hey guys/gals, how about answering the question that FMB asked. It's been years, but Mark Nesbit's Ghosts of Gettysburg tour has been the only place I taken tours with. (2 of them). I have no idea who is the 'best' now. P.S. Dave, it isn't wind. It's an exterior door that is kept locked at all times. The house shakes and you can hear the 'air rush' every time it is closed when one of us uses it. The same thing happens when it's just the 4 of us home and in the same room. The dogs bark any time an exterior door (we have 3 of them) is opened and closed no matter what time of day and they bark when that noise is made when the 4 of us are in the same room as well. I have even changed the lock to that door and only I have the key to it just in case the kids for some reason let a 'friend' have a key to the house. Honestly, it's annoying since it makes the dogs bark unnecessarily.

I, myself do not believe in ghost.
But, I have friends who have had experiences on the battlefield that we can’t explain. I also have friends, and have talked with others who live in civil war, or pre-civil war homes in the area who have had interesting and unexplainable things happen.
Are these happenings the result of ghostly activity? I have no idea, but as I said they are not things that anyone has been able to explain.
I can’t say I know anyone who has seen one of these ghostly images yet.
I do find it interesting though, and admit I purchase most of the books talking about ghost in Gettysburg. I find it interesting to read the story of what happened in that area, or building during the battle and what people have experienced.
I read that some of those who believe in the paranormal believe that a ghost is the spirit of a person who died while they still had things that they were to accomplish in their lifetime. If this is true, I can’t think of anyplace that would be more likely to have ghost.
My feelings are, if you believe in ghost, that is your right and I would sometime enjoy hearing your stories.
Until someone commits a murder and uses the defense that “the ghost told me to do it”, it is a belief that is harmless to unbelievers, so believe what you want about ghost.
As to the various tours, good for them. If they give visitors something else to do while in town and make their trip more entertaining for them, or encourages them to return great. If it gives some local people a chance to do something they want to do, that is good also.

Honestly, it's annoying since it makes the dogs bark unnecessarily. If you aren't the first owner of the home it might be interesting to try to look into the history of the house. If an unusual event happened there it may help to explain what you are experiencing. I don't believe there is any harm in believing in spirits or the paranormal, because I don't think most of them mean any harm. A few years ago I heard about some happenings at a house close to mine that had some unsettling events happen. I was told they brought a priest in to exorcise the house.

Do priests do that now? The whole amityville horror got someone booted out of the church for exorcising a house instead of people, didn't it?
I'm not a member of the club, I just always thought as an outsider that they'd take someone out of the cloth by telling them it was ridiculous to say that a house could be possessed by a ghost but totally reasonable to think that a person was possessed by a ghost (which is just a mental issue in reality).
