I have had the desire for a “sloppy joe” sandwich for the past couple of days. Does anyone know of a restaurant in town, or close to Gettysburg that has them on the menu?
Three stops in three days and haven’t found anyplace that offers them, even as a special.

But I have a fantastic recipe passed down from my Grandma who used to make them for church fundraisers when they sold food at public auctions. Would you like it? Well,it's not really a recipe, it's a little of this, some of that until it looks and tastes good. Plus one unusual but important ingredient you don't want to leave out.

That important ingredient would be the love? I have a recipe also, and will probably end up making a big pot this weekend. The problem is I was really hungry for it this week. When I cook I will end up making about a gallon of it, and will have enough for months, since I am the only one in the family who likes it that much. But I do thank you for the offer, and if you want to send it, I would like to give it a try.

When it's browned add "about" a tablespoon of white sugar, a tablespoon of cider vinegar, a big squirt of yellow mustard, and some ketchup until it's the consistency that you like it. Simmer it a bit, then douse it with a good sprinkling of celery seed and cook a little longer. The celery seed is what makes it unique. It also freezes well so make a big pot. Enjoy!
