Someone suggested that I take a vacation on a tropical island while I'm dealing with some health issues. I could handle a solo weekend at the beach. I can't swim and I'm afraid of the ocean but this time of year it doesn't matter.
Does anyone know of a good place, not too expensive, where I could hole up for two days, watch TV, read and see no one and where I could walk to stores, restaurants, shops, etc?
It has to be a destination that I can reach without ending up in Canada or Honduras. Even with GPS I can't find my way out of a paper bag.
Reasonable suggestions will be happily accepted. Go fly a kite and other suggestions will be filed accordingly.

Thanks anonymous. I've never been to Cape May. I'll study the website. Someone else made a suggestion as well. I think that 2-3 years away would do the trick but I'll have to settle for 2-3 days.

A friend suggested a place north of here - I think it's north. I don't know but the rates look great. I can get a room with two huge beds (I can sleep in one bed the first night and the other bed the second night) for about 1/2 the cost of a room in Cape May. Going alone means counting pennies. Of course, if there are any stories of hauntings in the lighthouse I'll be all over it.

My compadre and historical idol, Major General Dan Sickles would have much to say,(and I reach him frequently thru my ouija board), about Meade's integrity. Lighthouse be damned! If he would have arrived ON TIME for the SHOW, the damnable rebels would have never shot off poor Dan's leg!...but, that's another story...Lighthouse Schmitehouse! Dan is/was responsible for the formation of GNMP!

So is seafood around here, and say the Eastern Shore, not real? And Virginia Beach is a shit hole, avoid it all costs Former T. If you're driving that far you might as well drive the extra 2 hours to the Outer Banks. If you want to just escape reality for a little bit and the hustle and bustle of the North East, go there. I agree with Cape May as well, and for only being about 3.5 hours away, Rehoboth is nice as well.

I considered Raystown as well. But, my mother has come up with a new procedure - a pacemaker. So, the 4 day weekend I planned in November is not going to happen. It wasn't enough that she tried to die on me twice in August and we've been dealing with her broken wrist, therapy, etc but now this. At this point I'm seriously considering booking a room locally from Friday after work until Monday morning. (And I won't tell my family where I am). At least I could be alone. Heck, I just wanted a mental health retreat. If I weren't so clumsy I could try to locate someone's fancy tree stand out in the woods and hole up there for a weekend. The newspaper headline would read "Local woman falls to her death from tree stand. Why was she there?" Sorry, must laugh to retain a semblance of sanity. Thanks so much for the suggestions though. They are greatly appreciated.

Thanks all but I'm probably staying here. If the pacemaker thing goes well, it may be Raystown. For those of you who are on FB, I blew my butt right out of the water so I may have to leave town permanently.
