If we had Mason Dixon Resort and Casino just think of the more money the County could have made to fund existing or new projects.

I don't think the county would've made much. The casino owners and the state would've done well, though.

The Home County gets a nice chunk of change too.

I wonder if it would offset the amount those people wouldn't have spent at businesses that are actually owned in adams county. Even if the county gets 3% of the revenue, people would only have to spend 3 cents on the dollar on an in-county business to get the same effect.
Hopefully if we'd have had the casino, it would be people who wouldn't have otherwise come to the country to spend their money.

Alex, I don't even know why the fuck you keep bringing it up.
Didn't happen - Ain't gonna happen.

Alex, I don't even know why the fuck you keep bringing it up. Didn't happen - Ain't gonna happen. I just like to remind people of the additional money the county could get for other projects from time to time. If we had a casino, more businesses would come in and give people a chance to make a better living wage. And know I am not saying we should have businesses all over the battlefield but is about balance between perserving the history and local economy.

It could have brought even more visitors into town to spend money at both the casino and the history related businesses. It would help extend the Tourists stay, it is still basically come in Friday Night and leave Sunday Night, I guess could help in getting people to come for more then one day.

I agree Venter, I don't think there will be another casino attempt any time in the near future, if ever. I think the state's current economic climate has a lot to do with that, and nothing to do with the efforts of some to keep it out of the area. However, Alex does make a good point of bringing diversified business and economic opportunities to Gettysburg, which could include casinos as part of a diversified Gettysburg. I think diversification is vital to our long term survival. We won't be able to ride the 150th train forever, and we shouldn't put all of our economic eggs in one basket. It just doesn't make sense. Plus, I like to see certain people get their panties in a bunch if someone even mentions the "c" word. BTW, the buffer attempt has not died. Another attempt is struggling to get out of committee, and I hope it dies there once again. Even if you don't like casinos I think you should be very cautious in supporting anything that attempts to control what you or I legally choose to do on our privately owned land.
