This really is no secret. I think the location is still in Adams County which would be a plus for tax revenue. Really nothing more than speculation at this point as far as I'm concerned. I do wish Mr. Levan luck in his endeavor.

What is newsworthy about this article? 99 percent of it is speculation, no facts. The Hanover press loves to print this type of "news" article.
The only sentence that actually contains any information cites a Pittsburgh reporter, who claims that LeVan has renewed lobbying efforts. Hardly news. LeVan has been lobbying for Adams County gaming since 2005. It would be news if he STOPPED lobbying.

Susan Starr Paddock has a vision for this community: no economic development, no jobs, no tax-base, no future.

Hello, everyone!
I was fluttering around the Paddock estate and the No Casino Gettysburg headquarters today, and everyone is saying that a casino will bring drugs, crime and prostitution.
Tweet, tweet!

Wait! Wasn't there a Battle of Hanover? Sure was. I think it was in the '80s or '90s when the first non-white person showed up in the center of town.

I thought the issue was a casino too close to the battlefield, hence the ridiculous idea of a ten mile buffer? Now, it seems like no place is appropriate. What a bunch of who-ha over speculation. Did get a chuckle over some of the posts though. Here is my personal favorite LOL. Some of these people are certifiable.

I like the comment from the guy in Scranton, who says the city can’t manage it’s money and the casino keeps bailing them out. Then adds piss on casinos. He doesn’t like the idea that the casino is helping his city?

I wouldn't want one in gettysburg, but if it's in new oxford or hanover, go ahead and build it.
Hell, make unlimited licenses, tax them all so it makes almost no money to have a casino. Then we can finally tax some of the freeloaders who are sure to make up a very large percentage of the casino patrons.
Require everyone who gambles to set up an account with a drivers license or state ID and pull back any of their public benefits (if they get them) by the amount of their losses so it costs twice as much to lose. Maybe they'll learn just to eat there, then, and watch other people who think the odds change the longer you go without winning.

I wouldn't want one in gettysburg... Mr. LeVan has never proposed a casino in Gettysburg. The first project would have been out in Straban Township, near the movie theater, hotels, Wal-Mart and Sheetz. The second proposal would have been closer to Maryland than Gettysburg, down at the Eisenhower Inn.

anyone else see the Ch 7 presentation last night on the $4 million Dauphin County is getting from the casino? Didn't see it on Ch 7, but did see something in one of the press releases someplace. One question I have is the people talking about their taxes not going down or still going up. I thought the idea was tax relieve and never a promise of no taxes, or that taxes would never go up. How much would their taxes have gone up without the casino?

Both areas are zoned for commercial development. It's legal.

Plus, the Eisenhower was not allowed to change the footprint of the site. If the No-Casino people are against gambling in any form, anywhere, for moral reasons then I have no argument with them. But to say that it dishonors those who fought there, then they have no inkling as to how much the men loved to gamble to pass the time. I have collected artifacts for years, and nine out of ten gum blankets that I hble on have seen have either a chuck-luck or checkers board on the reverse ( and, yes, you can gamble on checkers - did it in the Navy in the '60's).
