Depending on who you voted for, for better or worse, Barack Obama is re-elected to office.
Four years to make good, as long as the Congress gets off their collective asses and allows Change.
Republican or Democrat, he is the President of ALL of us.
Now he has Four Complete years to work, instead of having to run for office again in 2 years.
If the Republicans in Congress won't work with him, I think we'll see a reversal in their numbers in 2014.
People can only take so much bullshit.

could have been a Freudian slip where "isle" was used in lieu of "aisle" because most of the administration--exec and legislative, here and in Harrisburg--act as tho they are on an island, totally separated from the realities we have to deal with.

It is the fault of us as Americans who don't have control over our Elected Officials in Washington.
We have been brainwashed into believing that it is Us against Them for so long.
Once they get into office, the newbies are "taught the ropes" by those career politicians.
They quickly find out that they are powerless to change what needs changing, and if they don't fall into step, then whatever THEY want to do will be blocked by a vindictive bunch of old men with power.
Sooooo, if you can "blame" the Democrats for blocking the President, then go ahead!
The secret little society that they propagate just continues to make the system worse for all of us.
We keep electing the same people into office that keep us all screwed up as a Nation.
The people we elect that "will change the way things are done in DC" are cock-blocked by the old-timers.
Of the two, I happen to believe that Obama is the better person.
Romney actually gave me the creeps, and not having to see or hear from him again.
I believe he would have made many people very wealthy in four years... and it wouldn't have been US!

Can't think of any better issue to start the bipartisan effort than to dissect Obamacare to give us all something will give true reform yet not lead us down the path to socialized medicine.

First off - Congratulations to President Obama and the Democrats.
This result was certainly not my preference, however, we must abide by the election results and come together for the good of the nation.
Something to think about though -
Look at the Blue and Red areas of the election map for PA. An astounding 12 counties out of 67 are Blue, while the balance is red. That means 55 PA counties voting preference for this election (Including ADAMS) were negated by the highly-populated Obama demographic counties in eastern PA, Dauphin county in central PA, plus Allegheny and Erie counties in western PA.
I think it is time PA considers splitting our state's electorial votes by Congressional Districts (much like Nebraska and Maine currently do).
It hardly seems fair that we Red voters, in the 55 PA counties which voted Republican, have no say in this election.
Just a thought!

Venter, being a better person and a better leader are two completely different things. You can like Obama, heck I do, he says all kinds of feel good things and promises all kinds of cool things, but, my liking him doesn't mean that he is the right choice to lead this country. He came into office saying he would work across the party aisle, but, his actions did nothing of the sort. Did that mean that the Repubs should do the same? No, but both sides did act like children. Both sides talk of compromise, but, in a true compromise, neither side is happy. Compromise in DC means, get on board with what I want. The repubs have blocked the president because they and there constituents don't like the direction the POTUS is going plain and simple. Neither side is looking for the common/middle ground.
Oh and BTW, a little side note, but, an analogy of sorts: your desires with the boro sign ordinance is very much in line with the republicans idea of smaller government and less regulation. Just sayin'......

By reaching a consensus Congress can agree on a plan which might not be the best plan one side or the other may hope for, but it is a plan that both sides can live with. There are members of Congress from both parties who have campaigned or committed to working to break the Congressional deadlock. I guess we will soon find out if it's all empty talk. The fiscal cliff is a mere seven weeks away. |

Just sayin'...... Dexter, Apples and oranges... the Boro issue is a mix of local government ignoring the law, and using selective enforcement. It's not so much a matter of regulation, as much as legality. But that's another matter. If I'm not mistaken, the Republicans want smaller FEDERAL Government. That STILL means that there will be large Government, it will just move to the State and Local levels. Maybe that's a good thing, but as in your example of the Boro, small town thinking is pretty small - and they feel they are above the law, even at this level. |

As I've explained before, if your Local Politicos are Primarily Republican, then the ONLY way to have a voting choice, is to be Registered Republican. Nobody really gives a shit what you are registered as, you don't get any added benefits by writing, Joe Blow, R., PA on your MasterCard receipt! If the Local Politics begin to lean Democratic, then for Primary purposes, I'll switch to Dem! You can then Vote or Screw anyone in the General Elections. We even allow the Independents/Greens/TeaBaggers to waste THEIR Votes then - when it's all over  What I can't understand is why ANYONE will Label THEMSELVES and effectively WASTE a Vote just to be able to call themselves "an Independent" or otherwise. Maybe if it came with a cool button, a blowjob, or something, but otherwise, you have registered yourself completely out of the process... all for a "Principle".At a Tea Party Rally, does anyone demand to see your "TP Card? NO! Register Republican, and then STAND IN A PROTEST LINE with your "Occupy" Sign. Who will know the difference, and WHY would it matter if they did? · Vote for the WORST Democratic Candidate in the Primary
· Vote Republican in the General
By doing this you help to place the Least-Likely-to-Win Democrat against your Preferred Republican Candidate!

Unlikely. Age will be a factor and of course the Republican establishment hates him for his 'disloyalty' as he really isn't a Republican and he did not endorse other Republican presidential candidates in the past. Another note is he's just a Representative. It seems that "isn't enough experience" to become President. Governor or Senator (even half a term) is the ticket. |
