Bill, I thank you for taking your time to honor these men and women on here. It is a nice way to honor them for their service. Well I must admit I don’t always read the obituaries, except to look for my name some mornings. I feel sure there are a few others who maybe check BV before leaving for work or what ever without reading every page of the local rag. Maybe someone will recognize a name on here and say “gosh I knew him but didn’t know he was a vet. Maybe I’ll swing by the home or attend the service.” I’m surprised at the number of these men and women I have seen on the streets and didn’t know they served their country, and as you can see many WWII Vets, members of our “greatest generation”. Had I known I would have wanted to thank them, but they just went about their lives like they never did anything or deserve any respect or thanks. But I am glad you appreciate it. Thank you.

Hopefully FMB sees it and posts it. FT, regretfully, I don’t scan the obituaries for these men and women, the information I get is through various veterans organizations when they are notified of the need for an honor guard. Although they are authorized, not all veterans request military honors at their funerals or memorial services so I probably will not find out about them. Please this is not my thread, anyone with information on the passing of a veteran, please post it here for all to know. And if I may be so bold, I don't think they need to be local, everyone who has served this country needs to be recognized. These men and women should be recognized and remembered for their service. If you can’t get to the funeral or services, think of them and their families for a moment in your daily prayers. A thank you to any and all that read these and I do thank you for thinking of these brave men and woman.

I don't know all of the people that you mention in your posts, or those I read about in the paper. I do know that some of these people spent the end of their time here on earth in ways that did not reflect the respect and honor these heroes deserved. Thank you for helping to make them matter.
