Two of our local veterans have passed.
Warren Rudisill a Veteran of the Unite States Air Force serving during Vietnam. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday January 7 at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery after the service.
Daniel Doxzen a veteran of the Unite States Navy serving during WW II. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 10, 2011 at St Ignatius Catholic Church in Orrtanna at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Church Cemetery after the service.
Please remember these men and their families in your prayers.

George Shealer also passed. He was a WWII veteran, I beleive with the army serving in China. He was a Battlefield Guide for many years. On Friday, January 14th, there will be a 10:00 AM viewing at the Monahan Funeral Home. The service will follow at 11:00 AM with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Paul Brasee was a Veteran of the Unite States Navy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January 11 at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg. Interment will be at Flohrs Church Cemetery after the service. Should arrive at the cemetery around 11:30

I'm sure you are all learning of the recent passing of Major Dick Winters, of Easy Co. Band of Brothers fame. As a sidelight, a few years back I had a short stay in the hospital. For less than a day I had as a roomate an elderly gentleman that so unfortunately I never was able to speak with. During a discussion he had with a doctor, I overheard them speaking about him being a member of Easy Co. I had read Ambrose's book and had seen the BOB series on tv countless times. I honestly was very moved and honored just to be in the same room with this man.

My sister went to the D-Day anniversary program at the Reading airport last year, and he was there with a few other WWII vets. The family said that it would be his last appearance, and that any cards or letters would no longer be accepted. May he and all of his brothers and sisters rest in piece. And God Bless them.

Fred Strickhouser a veteran of the Unite States Marine Corps during Korean War and he received the Purple Heart while in action. He was a member Gettysburg Battlefield Detachment in Gettysburg, and the American Legion Post 262 in Biglerville. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 20, 2011 at Dugan Funeral Home in Bendersville at 11 a.m. Cemetery in Mount Tabor around 11:30 a.m

Berkley Naugle was a Veteran of the Air Force serving in Vietnam and a member of the AL Post 202 and the VFW Post 15. Christian Burial (No Mass) services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 7 at St Francis Xavier Church in Gettysburg. Interment will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens after the service. It is anticipated that the service will be about half hour to 45 minutes and Peters should be at the Cemetery between 11:45 and 12:00 p.m. Was the recipient of the Silver Star, Purple Heart, Air Medal and Cross of Gallantry

James Sneeringer a veteran of the Unite States Army serving during WW II and a member of the American Legion, VFW and the 40/8 in Gettysburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 12, 2011 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Church Cemetery after the service. Jim Sneeringer was a Deacon in the Diocese of Harrisburg and very active member of the Diocese and St Francis parish.
